DIMSUM GALORE – Hong Kong

Eating dim sum at a restaurant is usually known in Cantonese as going to "drink tea" (yum cha, 飲茶), as tea is typically served with dim sum.

If you never knew me well, you prolly never knew that I am a food enthusiast. Good Food, that’s it.
When It comes to Dimsum, I never really had any knowledge about it. All I knew was some har gao , siew mai. And char siew bao. Full stop.

And, This following three words changed my life,
LIU SHA BAO.SAM_0785

As innocently as it may seem, IT’S A SIN. ( and you will know why)
It’s pretty much, Custard Buns with lava salted egg yolk in there.
Savory Sweet Goodness.

Before I skip forward , let’s take a foodflight to HONGKONG, the parents of Dim Sum.

TIM HO WAN – Hong Kong

Michelin Star awardee. Famous Dim Sum Place in HongKong,
but it’s located at a pretty secluded place near mongkong/Prince edward.
I HAVE TO SAY THIS IS A MUST TRY.

THEY DONT SERVE LIUSHABAO THOUGH!
I swear I was FREAKING disappointed down right to my cores.

Baked CHAR SIEW BAO .
It was so good that each of us had three! Because It was baked, the caramelized crispy outer crust was almost perfection. As you break the case, the steam and amazing flavour of the BBQ pork (CHARSIEW) will tempt to gobble up immediately.

Phoenix Claws.
My virgin experience! AND IT WAS HOLYCRAZY GOOD.
But, when I came back to SG, nothing like that appeared.

TIM HO WAN - HAR GAO
THE BEST DISH IN TIM HO WAN I WOULD SAY.
Till today, i still can remember the taste so vividly and even crave for it now and then!
The skin is really thin. I hate those skins that has this rubbery eeky texture that made you think you are chewing on plastic?!
But anw, the Prawns are FRESH-SUCCULENT-JUICY-CRUNCHY-GOOD.

Pan Fried Red Bean cakes.

Carrot cake.
A very different taste from Singapore’s.

Honey Steam cake.
I know this look really unappealing and is nothing I would ever order, but Its pretty crazily loved by internet peeps so I thought I would try! AND VOILA, YUMMY MAX.

Some Random Restaurant in Hong Kong.
After researching and asking my hongkong friends, i came to the know that Liu Sha Bao is not extremely common. You can only find them in places like restaurants ( Jiu Lou ).
Our hongkong dancer friends were really nice and brought us to a place to takeaway ‘some dimsum’.
